Exercise referral success

Learn more about how our gym-based Exerciser Referral scheme helped Fiona to improve her health and wellbeing.

Fiona decided to take part in our 12-week gym based programme at Enderby Leisure centre because of feeling unfit and wanting to improve her health and well-being. She suffered with joint pain and had issues with her balance resulting in falls. She was recommended to take part in the programme by her GP due to a loss in confidence of going out by herself, restricting her day to day activities.

What benefits have you gained from attending the sessions?

“Since doing the 12-week course, I have much better balance and can even stand on one leg, which I could never do before! I have more confidence moving about and don’t fall over so much. I have also met new ladies through attending the sessions who have now become good friends!”

What did you enjoy most about the sessions?

“The experience of going to a group class is something I look forward to each week. Even when I don’t feel like going, it does me good to go to the class and meet friends whilst getting active.”

What would you say to someone who was considering joining the gym based programme in the future?

“If you can do the 12-weeks and get on well with the activities, even if you just go once per week. Try to get out there as much as possible and do as much as you can with what is available to you. I would also saying, doing the home exercises can be very beneficial as it all helps to improving your overall health and wellbeing!”
